8 Ways to Get into that “Spring Mood”
Today marks the first day of spring. Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be putting away our coats and sweaters and grabbing our sandals and shades. Not feeling in the “spring mood?” We can fix that! Celebrate spring and start the season off right with the eight tips listed below.
8 Ways to Celebrate Spring
Toast the New Season
The weather is slowly warming up and the days longer. That’s something to celebrate! Today, why not visit your favorite coffee or smoothie shop and pick up a delicious beverage? Get something refreshing for spring like an iced tea or fresh fruit smoothie. It will definitely put a smile on your face.
Pick Up a Potted Plant
Spring is the time for all things green and keeping fresh plants around you is a must. On your way home today stop by your local plant nursery and pick up a potted plant. It could be a beautiful flower, a succulent, or an herb for your kitchen. Is the local home improvement or gardening store out of your way? Try a well-stocked grocery store and convenience shop. They may have small potted plants on sale due to the new season.
Buy a Sweet-Scented Candle
What scents remind you of spring? Citrus? Floral? Wood or earthy scents? Whichever is your favorite, be sure to stock up this spring. Go online and start shopping or pick something up at a local store. If you’re tired of the traditional lavender, lemon, and sandalwood scents, try something different like a pink grapefruit candle or a jasmine candle.
Donate Money to Help Mother Earth
Show your appreciation for spring by helping Mother Earth out. Donate a couple of bucks to your favorite environmental or conservation organizations like the Sierra Club, Earthjustice, or Oceana. If we want to keep our planet and our spring green, we need to do our part.
Take a Walk in Your Local Park
Taking a walk around your neighborhood is great daily exercise, but to truly indulge in this new season take a trip to your local park. Keep your phone in your pocket, take off your shoes, and just be in the moment. Let time pass you by and just relax. After a long winter, we deserve some time to enjoy the warmth and sunshine.
Have a Salad for Dinner
Hearty meals like stews and soups are ideal for winter. Today, but those recipes aside and make a salad instead. Pack your salad with all the healthy vegetables that you love. Some of my favorite toppings include tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, yellow or orange bell peppers, corn, black beans, and, of course, lettuce. You can add meat, but with the protein-packed beans, you don’t really need it. Top the salad off with your favorite dressing and you have a refreshing dinner.
Watch Baby Animal Videos Online
Spring is also the time when cute little baby animals are born. In fact, spring is practically synonymous with baby bunnies and chicks. If you’re in the need of a mood booster, go to YouTube and search for baby animal videos. They’re sweet, entertaining, and guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
Join a Local Environmental Group
Do you have a brown thumb instead of a green? Maybe a little practice is all you need. Today do a little research on local environmental groups you can join. See if there is a community garden you can help with or a group that plants trees in your neighborhood. Or consider joining a local clean up group that picks up debris in your community. You’ll make new friends and help the environment at the same time.
Hope you enjoy the First Day of Spring!
