Blueberries to the Rescue!
Blueberries are one of the most nutritional foods you can eat and they are great stress busters. Blueberries have potent antioxidants. As a result, half a cup of blueberries provides the antioxidant power of five servings of peas, carrots, apples, squash, or broccoli. Also called “youth berries,” or “brain berries,” they have been shown to improve motor skills and reverse age-related memory loss. Blueberries may also prevent cancer, protect the brain from stroke, and reduce heart disease. Imagine, even one serving of a pie made using them is like visiting a “fountain of youth.”
Including blueberries in your salads, smoothies, and desserts can help you age gracefully. It’s easy to find fresh, locally grown blueberries at your farmers’ market. In fact, over five million pounds of blueberries are grown all over the United States, from Georgia to California.
You can find some great recipes with them on our sister site, Mindful Living Network.
