Create a Mindful Oasis

Are you suffering from news fatigue?Sometimes taking a break from it all is the perfect solution. With a few Mindful tips, you can create your own personal mindful oasis to shut out all the noise and focus on yourself.

Take the time to create a mindful oasis

Monitor your news consumption

Has the news got you down? Give yourself a break from the constant stimulation and set aside some time for yourself. Schedule a regular news detox for every day. Turn off your phone and your television. Close your laptop. Enjoy the quiet for an hour or two.

Create a quiet spot for yourself

In the corner of your bedroom, patio, or balcony, create a special spot for yourself to unwind. Decorate this spot with a comfy chair and cozy pillows and blankets. Add plants to the corner and lovely scented candles. Make it a truly relaxing location. Avoid creating an oasis in an area with electronic distractions like the living room.

Treat yourself to Mindful drink

After a long day of work, some people choose to unwind with an alcoholic beverage, but there are healthier options. You can relax with a non-alcoholic beverage like a Mindful mocktail. These drinks don’t have alcohol but they can be just as refreshing. With mint leaves, lime juice, maple syrup, blueberry juice, club soda, and frozen blueberries, you can make a blueberry maple mojito. Or you can make a pomegranate pink lady with a pomegranate, pomegranate juice, lime juice, simple syrup, club soda, and orange wedges. For more recipes check out this article.

Indulge in a Mindful snack

Some people try to comfort themselves during stressful times with food. If this is your habit try to only indulge in healthier snacks. Skip the ice cream and cookie dough and eat frozen fruit instead, like frozen strawberries, mangoes, peaches, and pineapples. If you enjoy saltier snacks, skip the chips and eat lightly salted nuts instead.

Dive into another reality

When your mind needs a Mindful break, sometimes it helps to immerse yourself in another world. Reading a book or watching a favorite movie can give you a momentary reprieve.

Finish your Mindful Oasis with a bang

After a successful break, you should feel refreshed and ready to take on the world again. So conclude your hour or two of mindful relaxation by getting your adrenaline running. Go for a quick fifteen-minute walk around your neighborhood. Or try doing a quick yoga session or a few stretches. The endorphins will help you keep going as you step back into reality.
